Israel Tutrow is a Greenfield man out of Hancock County, Indiana. The government asked a judge to put him in a cell. The judge said no. THE LEGAL FIGHT [FACT] Tutrow was arrested January 27, 2021 in the Southern District of Indiana. [FACT] He was charged by criminal information April 19, 2021. He was arraigned May 3, 2021 and pleaded not guilty to all counts. [FACT] He entered a plea agreement October 6, 2021 and pleaded guilty to count 4, parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. A petty offense. The government moved to dismiss counts 1 through 3 and the court granted it. [FACT] Prosecutors asked the court for 60 days in jail. [FACT] On December 21, 2021, Judge Zia M. Faruqui sentenced Israel Tutrow to 36 months of probation with the first 60 days on home detention, $500 restitution, and a $10 special assessment. He also ordered assessments and a firearm restriction during probation. No jail. The government asked. The court declined. That is the receipt. Write it down. [FACT] On January 20, 2025 the President issued a proclamation granting full, complete and unconditional pardons to individuals convicted of offenses related to the events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. Israel Tutrow's petty offense conviction falls within that grant. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE Tutrow was never charged with assaulting anyone. He was never charged with destroying property. The three heavier counts on the sheet were dismissed on the government's own motion. What is left is one petty offense that a President has since pardoned. WHAT IS STILL MISSING Israel Tutrow's trade, his service record if he has one, his family and his church are not in the public reporting. Greenfield knows him better than a wire story does. This archive wants the rest, from the people who actually know the man.
