Eric Andrew Cantrell is an Indianapolis-area attorney from Greenwood, Indiana — a lawyer who went to Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021 with two of his cousins. Eric Cantrell knows the law from the inside. When his own case came, he fought it like the professional he is — challenging the government, at one point moving to dismiss and citing the sheer scale of the "titanic" discovery database prosecutors dumped on J6 defendants. On January 6, 2021, Eric Cantrell entered the Capitol through the Upper West Terrace with his cousins. Video showed him reaching down to help a family member down a wall — a small human moment in a chaotic day. Charges are charges: Cantrell ultimately pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor, parading or demonstrating in a Capitol building, and in March 2023 was sentenced to three months of probation, 40 hours of community service, and about $1,510 in fines and restitution. Prosecutors dropped the remaining counts. On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency to January 6 defendants, closing the book on cases like Eric Cantrell's. CASE RECORD: United States v.
