Donovan Ray Crowl is a United States Marine from Woodstock, Ohio, and a January 6 defendant whose case was dismissed in 2025. FACT: Crowl served in the Marine Corps from 1987 to 1993, rose to the rank of corporal, and spent time aboard the U.S.S. Iwo Jima (Task and Purpose; Military Times). That service is the first thing that should be said about him: years given in uniform, in the fleet, for this country. THE COURT RECORD, kept honestly: Crowl marched to the Capitol on January 6 with a group of fellow Ohioans. He pleaded not guilty to every charge and fought the case for more than two years, through eight superseding indictments. On July 12, 2023, a judge found him guilty at a stipulated bench trial on two counts, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and civil disorder (Source: NPR Jan. 6 archive). WHERE THINGS STAND: Crowl was never sentenced. Sentencing had been reset for January 22, 2025. On January 21, 2025, the day after President Trump's clemency proclamation for January 6 offenses, the court granted the government's motion to dismiss his case with prejudice (Source: NPR Jan. 6 archive). No sentence was ever imposed, and the case is closed. The verdict at trial is part of the record, kept here honestly. So is the fact the case ended in dismissal before any sentence, and so is the service. All three are true, and none of them cancels the others. CASE RECORD Case No. 1:21-cr-28, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Charges at trial: conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; civil disorder and aiding and abetting. Arrested: January 18, 2021. Prosecuted through eight superseding indictments, 2021 to 2022. Bench trial verdict: guilty on two counts, July 12, 2023. Disposition: case dismissed with prejudice before sentencing, January 21, 2025. This profile is unclaimed. If this is you, or your family, claiming it is free, forever.
