David Krauss is a father from Sewell, New Jersey — Gloucester County, South Jersey — whose January 6 case was a walk through the Capitol, not a fight. FACT: The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that David Krauss spent roughly 15 minutes inside the Capitol's corridors on January 6, 2021, and was not accused of any violence or vandalism. He and his son Nicholas faced the case together — a father and son from the same South Jersey town, in the same courtroom. FACT: David Krauss pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor — parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. In September 2023 a federal judge sentenced him to nine months of probation and a $1,000 fine, on top of $500 in restitution he had already agreed to pay. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump's proclamation pardoned January 6 defendants, closing the book on the Krauss family's case for good.
