Clayton Hildebrand
January 6 defendant
Clayton Hildebrand is from West Jefferson, Ohio, and was 28 when his January 6 case was dismissed with prejudice after the 2025 clemency proclamation. FACT (DOJ; court filings): Hildebrand was charged alongside co-defendants Evan Hunt and Michael Sposite. Court papers said the three were among the first to approach the Capitol's West Front, entered through the Senate Wing door at about 2:17 p.m., and left roughly three minutes later. CORRECTION FOR THE RECORD: an earlier version of this profile said the counts against him were misdemeanors only. The DOJ's own release on his arrest is titled "felony and misdemeanor charges," and the count of obstruction of an official proceeding was a felony charge; the misdemeanor counts were entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading or demonstrating in a Capitol building. His case never went to trial, and no conviction was ever entered on any of them. FACT: he was arrested March 5, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio, more than three years after January 6, one of the last Ohio defendants in this archive to be picked up. WHERE THINGS STAND: on January 21, 2025, one day after President Trump's January 20, 2025 clemency for January 6 defendants, the court granted the government's motion to dismiss Clayton Hildebrand's case with prejudice, meaning it is over and cannot be brought back. Sposite's case was dismissed the same day. CASE RECORD U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Charges: obstruction of an official proceeding (felony) and four misdemeanor counts, per DOJ. Arrested March 5, 2024. Disposition: dismissed with prejudice on January 21, 2025. This profile is unclaimed. If this is you, or your family, claiming it is free, forever.
