Christopher Patrick Moynihan is a Clinton, New York man convicted for his role on January 6 and pardoned in 2025. FACT: He was found guilty by the court on August 23, 2022 of obstruction of an official proceeding, after admitting to a stipulated set of facts, and also pleaded guilty to five related misdemeanor charges. He was sentenced February 1, 2023 to 21 months, three years of supervised release, and a $2,000 fine (DOJ). FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency to January 6 defendants, and Moynihan was released after serving part of his 21 month sentence, one of thousands whose federal cases closed that day. CHARGE ONLY, NEEDS AUTHENTICATION: In October 2025, New York State Police and multiple news outlets reported that a Clinton, New York man, Moynihan, was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats toward a member of Congress, Hakeem Jeffries. These are allegations reported by CBS News, NBC News, and New York State Police, and they have not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless and until a court says otherwise. WHERE THINGS STAND: The January 6 record is closed and pardoned. The 2025 matter is separate, unresolved, and does not change what happened or did not happen in the earlier case. This archive keeps both on the record because that is the standard here, the good and the hard alongside each other, without softening either one.
