Christine Priola is a former occupational therapist from Willoughby, Ohio, convicted in a January 6 felony case now covered by presidential clemency. Before January 6, 2021, Christine Priola worked for years as an occupational therapist for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, helping students in the public schools. FACT, per Cleveland news outlets and Law & Crime: she resigned from the school district the day after January 6, 2021, saying in her resignation letter that she did not want to take a COVID vaccine to return to in-person learning and that she intended to focus on exposing human trafficking. NPR's court-record review notes there is no suggestion in the charging documents that she was affiliated with any organized group; that is simply the language of her own letter, on the record. The court record, stated plainly: Priola reached the Senate floor on January 6 and was photographed near the dais holding a sign that read "The Children Cry Out for Justice," wearing a red coat and pants with "Trump" printed on the leg, and helped another person take a photo in the Vice President's chair. She was charged and, on July 26, 2022, pleaded guilty to obstruction of an official proceeding, a felony. On October 28, 2022, she was sentenced to 15 months in prison, one year of supervised release, and $2,000 in restitution. She was released early, in the latter part of 2023.
