Cameron Clapp
Pardoned January 6 defendant
Documented editorial-use imageCameron Clapp is from Cambria, on California's Central Coast, and his life story started making headlines a decade before January 6 ever happened. He lost both legs above the knee and his right arm below the shoulder in a train accident in 2001, and doctors and physical therapists still point to his recovery, walking independently again within five months, as extraordinary. From there, Cameron Clapp became a motivational speaker and a certified peer visitor with the Amputee Coalition of America, mentoring young amputees and spending countless hours visiting wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans in the Walter Reed Army Medical Center programs. He acted in NBC's My Name Is Earl, HBO's Carnivale, and the 2008 film Stop-Loss, and he competed for medals in running and swimming from 2002 to 2005 with an eye on the Paralympic Games. He was charged in February 2024 for his presence at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and was sentenced that November to 12 months of probation and $500 in restitution on two misdemeanor counts, disorderly conduct and parading, with two more restricted-building counts dismissed. On January 20, 2025, Cameron Clapp received a full pardon. CASE RECORD No case number on file. U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Charged 2/13/24.
