Brian Scott McGee is a Jefferson City, Missouri man who wore the uniform of the Missouri National Guard and who has spent his working life around airplanes. Guardsman. Airport worker. Missourian. That is who Brian Scott McGee was long before anybody outside his town ever heard his name. FACT: McGee is a former member of the Missouri National Guard. FACT: Reporting on his case states he has worked at Columbia Regional Airport in Missouri. Here is what the record shows. FACT: A criminal complaint was filed February 8, 2023. That is more than two years after January 6, 2021. FACT: Brian Scott McGee was arrested February 9, 2023. CHARGE ONLY: He was charged with four misdemeanors. Entering and remaining in a restricted building. Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building. Disorderly conduct in a Capitol building. Parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. Charges are charges. Brian Scott McGee is presumed innocent of every one of them. FACT: Charging documents state McGee was inside the Capitol for just under two minutes. Read that again. Under two minutes. Two years of federal investigation for under two minutes inside a building. THEIR ACCOUNT: McGee said Capitol Police officers were allowing people to enter. NEEDS AUTHENTICATION: The government said its surveillance did not support that account. Both statements sit in the record. Neither one was ever tested in front of a jury. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE: nothing charged against Brian Scott McGee alleges he assaulted anyone, damaged anything, or carried a weapon. Every count is a misdemeanor. FACT: On January 20, 2025, the presidential proclamation granted pardons for offenses relating to the events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 and directed dismissal of pending January 6 cases.
