Brian Gundersen played football at Byram Hills High School in Armonk, New York — and the varsity jacket he wore on January 6 is literally how the FBI identified him (FACT: NBC News). By the time his case resolved he was living in State College, Pennsylvania. He did not drag his case through a jury circus. Gundersen agreed to a set of stipulated facts and let the judge decide. On November 9, 2022, the court found him guilty of obstruction of an official proceeding and assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers. In 2023 he was sentenced to 18 months in prison, 36 months of supervised release, and $2,000 restitution (FACT: NBC News, News 12). One detail from that day says something: inside the Parliamentarian's Office, watching the damage around him, Gundersen left a handwritten note — "sowwy for damage" (FACT: Law & Crime). An apology, written in the moment. On January 20, 2025, presidential clemency covered January 6-related cases. THE CASE RECORD Case 1:21-cr-137, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
