Barbara Yazmin Balmaseda is a Miami political organizer who built a real career in Florida Republican politics before she turned 30 - Senate intern, statewide campaign organizer, campaign manager, county Young Republicans director. She never pleaded guilty. She never was convicted. Her case was dismissed with prejudice. Read that twice. WHO SHE IS FACT - Balmaseda served as a director of the Miami Young Republicans (WTSP; Axios; Fox News). FACT - She interned for U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. FACT - She worked as an organizer on Ron DeSantis 2018 Florida gubernatorial campaign. FACT - In 2020 she served as campaign manager for Florida State Senator Ileana Garcia. DOCUMENTED INFERENCE - That is a genuine grassroots political resume - phone banks, door knocks, field offices, a competitive state senate race run by a young woman in Miami-Dade. People build entire careers on less. FACT - During her prosecution the court approved her request to travel to Europe on her honeymoon, a routine order that tells you the court did not treat her as a flight risk or a danger (Law and Crime). THE LEGAL FIGHT FACT - Barbara Balmaseda was arrested December 14, 2023 - nearly three years after January 6, 2021. FACT - She was charged with one felony count of obstruction of an official proceeding plus misdemeanor counts including entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct, and parading or demonstrating in a Capitol building. FACT - She entered a plea of not guilty and, through her attorney Nayib Hassan, publicly committed to a vigorous defense. She never wavered from that position. FACT - On January 21, 2025, the prosecution against her was dismissed WITH PREJUDICE. With prejudice means it can never be brought again. FACT - The DOJ Office of the Pardon Attorney separately lists Barbara Yazmin Balmaseda as a pardon-certificate recipient under the January 20, 2025 clemency proclamation. No conviction. No sentence. No prison. Charges are charges, and hers ended in the strongest outcome a federal defendant can get. Anyone who says otherwise is arguing with the docket.
