FACT: Balmaseda is from Miami Lakes, Florida — a former Florida International University student who built a career young in Republican politics, working as a political strategist in South Florida. (Miami New Times; CBS Miami) FACT: She was arrested December 14, 2023, at age 23, on a felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding and four misdemeanors. Charges are charges: none of it was ever proven at trial. (DOJ; NBC Miami) FACT: She pleaded not guilty and a trial date was set. Her case was still pending when the January 20, 2025 presidential proclamation granting clemency for January 6 offenses directed dismissal of pending prosecutions. No conviction, ever.
