The most dangerous page in the world is page one of your own name.
Somebody heard about you today. Maybe a customer. Maybe a reporter. Maybe a woman deciding whether to hire you or call the other guy. And the second they got curious, they did what everybody does now.
They typed your name into a search bar.
Whatever came up on that first page became the truth about you. Not the real truth. The available truth. The version that happened to rank.
Here is the part most business owners never think about until it is too late. You did not write that page. Other people did. A review site. A directory you forgot you were on. An old article. A competitor. A rumor with good SEO.
You are letting strangers introduce you.
I learned this the hard way, in public, at a scale most people will never experience. For a long stretch, the version of me that showed up first was written entirely by people who were not me. I could not out-argue it. You cannot out-argue a search result. You can only out-build it.
So I built. My own ground. My own words, my own record, my own site with my own name on the door. Now when somebody searches, the first thing they find is the thing I actually control.
That is not vanity. That is defense. And for a business, it is money.
Think about your own shop for a second. When somebody searches your business by name, what wins the top of that page? Is it you? Or is it a listing you have never logged into, an old profile with the wrong hours, and one angry review from years ago?

Here is the fix, plain.
Own the domain that carries your name and your business name. Put up a real site, not a pretty brochure, a site that tells your story and answers the question the searcher is actually asking. Then feed it. Post to it. Let it earn the top spot with weight and time, because weight and time are the only things that hold a top spot.
A social profile cannot do this for you. You do not own it. It does not rank for your name the way your own domain can. And it can be throttled or shut off on a Tuesday for a reason nobody will explain to you. Rented ground never protects you. It just rents you back your own reputation.
