Facebook Sent Twice the Clicks. X Sent Every Sale.
Seven book orders in seven days. Six came from X, one from Google, zero from Facebook. I pulled the numbers off my own server and published what they said, including the part that made me look dumb.

I pulled my own numbers this morning before I did anything else.
Seven orders since August 29.
Six of them came from X.
One came from Google.
Zero came from Facebook.
Read that again. Zero.
The plain English summary
I sell a book off my own website. Every visitor who lands on my site gets stamped with where they came from, in my own database, on my own server. When somebody checks out, that stamp rides along with the order.
No Bitly. No ad platform dashboard. No agency report. My code, my database, my numbers.
Over the same seven days, Facebook sent me almost twice the visitors X did.
Facebook sent me zero buyers.
Why this matters if you own a business
You are probably pouring your hours into the platform that feels the busiest.
Busy is not the same as buying.
If you cannot answer the question "which platform paid me last week" with a number instead of a feeling, you are running your business on vibes. Most people are. It is not a character flaw. Nobody set the tracking up for them.
I set mine up. It took an afternoon. It has changed how I spend every morning since.
The receipt
FACT. Pulled live from my own page_views and book_orders tables on 2026-09-04. Window is 2026-08-29 through this morning.
| Where they came from | Visits | Sessions | Paid orders |
|---|---|---|---|
| Facebook (all four domains) | 382 | 299 | 0 |
| X (t.co) | 201 | 140 | 6 |
| 37 | 27 | 1 |
Facebook sent me more than twice as many sessions as X.
X converted at roughly 4 percent.
Google converted at roughly 4 percent.
Facebook converted at zero.
FACT. Six of the seven orders carry t.co as the landing referrer. t.co is X's own link wrapper. That is X and nothing else.
FACT. The seventh came in off google.com. Somebody searched, found me, and bought.
What I have been doing with my mornings
Here is the part that stings, and I am going to say it out loud because that is the whole point of this site.
Almost all of my daily posting labor goes into Facebook.
The scheduling. The comment replies. The outbound replies on other people's posts. Hours of it, every day, for weeks.
And the platform I have been feeding has produced nothing at the register in seven days.
Meanwhile the platform I have mostly been ignoring, where I have roughly three and a half times the followers and where I have no scheduled queue running at all, sold six books.
RYAN STATEMENT. That is not a Facebook conspiracy. That is me putting my effort in the wrong place and only finding out because I built the thing that could tell me.
What this does not prove
I am not going to overstate my own data. Here is where it is soft.
DOCUMENTED INFERENCE. Landing referrer captures the last click, not the whole journey. Somebody could see me on Facebook on Monday, think about it for two days, then search my name on Google and buy. That sale lands in the Google row. Last click always undercounts the platform that did the introducing.
DOCUMENTED INFERENCE. Seven orders is a small number. Seven is enough to notice a pattern. Seven is not enough to call it a law.
NEEDS AUTHENTICATION. Facebook's own dashboard reports its own reach and views differently than my server does. I am reporting what my server saw. I am not reporting what Meta says it sent.
What it does prove
It proves the question is answerable.
Not guessable. Answerable, with a number, in about ninety seconds, any morning I want to ask.
That is the entire value of owning your own platform instead of renting somebody else's. On rented land you get whatever numbers the landlord decides to show you, and they are always the numbers that make the landlord look good. On your own land you get the truth, including the parts that make you look dumb.
This one made me look dumb. I published it anyway. That is the difference between a record and a highlight reel.
What I am doing about it
Three things, starting today.
One. X gets the effort that Facebook has been getting. The followers are already there and so are the buyers.
Two. Facebook does not get abandoned, it gets demoted. It is still reach. It is still where people find out I exist. It is just not where they pay me, and I will stop treating it like it is.
Three. Google converted at the same rate as X off almost no volume. That is a search problem, which means it is a fixable problem, and it is the cheapest lane on this whole table.
If you do not know where your sales come from
That is the offer.
I can put this same thing on your site. Every visitor stamped. Every sale traced back to the click that made it. No monthly agency report that explains nothing. A number you can read yourself, on a page you own, any morning you want.
I see patterns fast. I build systems fast. I turn ideas into something real.
